Potential legal issues will sideline UNLV’s Savon Goodman for the season
UNLV sophomore Savon Goodman will not play for the Rebels this season after news surfaced Saturday night that he is facing two felony charges, as well as a misdemeanor, stemming from an incident on May 18, 2013.
According to the Clark County criminal case file, Goodman is being charged with first-degree burglary and grand larceny (under $3,500) — both felonies — in addition to conspiracy to commit burglary, a misdemeanor. Here is the case’s register of actions detailing the charges.
UNLV head coach Dave Rice, in a statement, confirmed that Goodman wouldn’t see the court this season.
“We are aware of the Savon Goodman situation and we are gathering more information,” Rice said. “I will have no comment today specific to this. Having said that, regardless of the resolution, Savon will not play in games this entire season so he can focus on getting his priorities in order.”
Goodman averaged 3.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game last season in limited action and was expected to be part of the mix at the small forward spot this year.
