Kentucky lands 2014 point guard target Tyler Ulis

As expected by pretty much everyone over the last few days, Chicago point guard Tyler Ulis, a top prospect in the Class of 2014, picked Kentucky over Iowa and Michigan. Ulis announced his decision Friday night.

The 5-foot-8 Ulis was a necessary get for the Wildcats, who needed a point guard in next year’s class. UK missed out earlier on Emmanuel Mudiay, who made a surprise decision to stay near home and play at SMU. The Class of ’14 is mostly spoken for in terms of top point guards, save for Tyus Jones, whose recruitment may end up being in lockstep with No. 1 overall recruit Jahlil Okafor.

Ulis to Kentucky may very well end Jones’ interest there (and vice versa), but you’d expect Cal and Co. to be in on Okafor the entire way. The 6-foot-10 forward is currently a favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft.

I'm just waiting for Calipari to leave town here in the next year or two as the NCAA comes to town - much like he did at UMass and Memphis.  He's never coached at a D-1 school that HASN'T committed violations and vacated wins from his tenure.  I seriously doubt that he'll avoid it at Kentucky, who's just as known for NCAA violations in basketball as it is for winning titles.
