No. 8 Kansas 64, Texas Tech 63: Texas Tech was a possession away from knocking off its fourth ranked opponent of the season, but an Andrew Wiggins (19 points, six rebounds) layup with three seconds to play moved the Jayhawks to 20-6 on the year. The Red Raiders were 233 in KenPom a year ago, and the job Tubby Smith has done this year can’t be overstated – Texas Tech is fighting in every game and is competing even in losses.

Robert Turner’s jumper with 1:40 to play put the Red Raiders up three, and it looked like Kansas was going to drop a tough road conference game. Joel Embiid hit a pair of free throws to cut the lead to one and had a dunk to put the Jayhawks ahead, but Turner hit a pair of free throws to retake the lead. Embiid lost the handle on Kansas’ last play, but Wiggins corralled it and put it in to steal the win.

For freshmen Wiggins and Embiid (18 points, eight rebounds), these close wins could prove invaluable come tournament time. Kansas has a lot of firepower, and the Jayhawks have probably played the toughest schedule in the country to date.

No. 14 Virginia 57, Virginia Tech 53: This game was really hard to watch. That’s about all you need to know about it – well that and also that this is the Cavaliers’ 10th straight win. Virginia won because Virginia tends to win games like this. Virginia Tech lost because Virginia Tech tends to lose games like this. Just be happy you weren’t in attendance, and if you were, I hope you at least looked at some beautiful art or ate delicious food or something to balance it out.

No. 5 Duke 68, Georgia Tech 51: Another big game from Jabari Parker led to another easy win for the Blue Devils, who still have a long week ahead of them. Duke has the rescheduled UNC game on Thursday and turns around to play Syracuse on Saturday. Going up 43-27 at the half was exactly what Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski hoped would happen so he could keep his guys fresh for the rest of the week. Parker had 16 points and 14 rebounds, and the Blue Devils shot 55.6 percent from beyond the arc against the Yellow Jackets, who dropped to 13-13 (4-9 ACC) on the year.

Refs sure wanted Kansas to win this one. I hope we (Bucky Badger) get to play KU in the big dance, we'll show 'em what real basketball is all about. I'm afraid KU will be making an early exit this year tho.
